Today is the anniversary of the great fire in Boston. For those who don't get Mass.Moments see: http://www.massmoments.org/moment.cfm?mid=323
Many thanks for posting the URL to Mass Moments - http://www.massmoments.org/ What a great way to add historical interest to our family history narrative (e.g., "our immigrant ancestor arrived in Boston a few days before The Great Boston Fire"). I've also subscribed to the site mailing list that will send me daily notices re: Mass Moments. Here in Washington State we have a site much like Mass Moments. Called History Link, it started out as pretty much a Seattle-centered project, but has expanded its scope to include ALL of Washington State. Visit http://www.historylink.org/ and be sure to bookmark the page if you have ancestors or collateral kin who lived in WA. Folks can subscribe to be notified WEEKLY about historical events in WA and the rest of the US. I'm curious - do you List Folks know of OTHER such websites that have a "Today in History" approach to local, state or provincial history? All too often we ignore those little extras ("history stuff") that can sometimes provide clues as to what our ancestors were doing or experiencing at a particular point in time.
