Hello Rose Staples: My gggrandfather was Henry Brown, b. 1829, Nova Scotia, and his father was James Brown. I was told by my great-aunt Grace Brown that as a child she & her siblings were told that "we should all be proud to be 'Halifax, Nova Scotia Browns'" because the Browns were loyal to the crown. It's been my mission for years to find my James Brown and then to find his father. My brother is part of the BROWN DNA study in hopes of finding a BROWN match. So far, no match. Our BROWNs were from the states of Maine & Vermont; went to Nova Scotia, and then in 1832, James & his family moved to Harwich, Ontario.
