Lorine posted: "History of the Settlement of Ontario" provides all the boundary and name changes that will help you and other researchers. http://www.olivetreegenealogy.com/can/ont/hist.shtml There were many changes in boundaries (and names) over the 19th century, too many to post here on the list, but you can read them all at the URL above So for eg one thing you will need to know is that in 1792 the four original district names in what is now Ontario were changed. Hesse became the Western District; Lunenburg became the Eastern district; Mecklenburg became the Midland district and Nassau became the Home District. You can continue reading online to get the list of counties and townships that became part of each District (including the one you want - Eastern) It's probably a good idea to bookmark this page as you may need to know other Districts (and the counties/townships within each) as you research your Ontario ancestors further.
