    1. [CAN-USA-MIG] Ontario Land -- Free Grants and Abstract Indexes toDeeds Explained..problems
    2. Hi all, The Olive Tree site is driving me nuts. For the life of me I can't seem to find the land grants... I find the hyper link to it on the site but it keeps tossing me right back to where I was, thus sending me in circles. Can anyone check this site for land grants in Ontario for a William Putnam or a Seth Putnam from Ireland to Canada. They owned some land on Reynolds Creek where William Putnam and William Reynolds had a lumber mill.. believe the town was called Putnamville back then and now the village is just called Putnam. Also can you check for land grants of William Reynolds and wife Elizabeth Mudge in the Dorchester area of Ontario. Thanks for any help you can offer in this matter. They owned some land Cheryl If you are going in circles, you are clicking on the same link to the same page. It is best to make your choice, click on the link, let the page load, and then read the page to see where (or IF) you need to choose another page. I'm sorry if my emails to the list were confusing but I never claimed to have the land grants on Olive Tree Genealogy site. They are not online anywhere - that would be a lifetime of work :-) What Olive Tree Genealogy has are the explanations to the land grants, examples, and complete details on how/where to get them. http://olivetreegenealogy.com/can/ont/land.shtml is the first page of the overall explanation of land records in Ontario. As you read about each type of record available, you will see a link to take you to a page that is just about that specific record. So far I have pages for Free Grants, Upper Canada Land Petitions, Abstract Indexes to Deeds and CLRI (Canadian Land Record Index - this one also has a lookup service available) I hope this helps but again - you will not find the land grants online anywhere, you have to consult them offline. You can find how and where on Olive Tree Genealogy Lorine -- Lorine McGinnis Schulze * Olive Tree Genealogy (Ships Passenger Lists) http://olivetreegenealogy.com/ * Naturalization Records http://naturalizationrecords.com/ * Images of Ships Lists http://www.rootsweb.com/~ote/ships/ [email protected] or [email protected]
