    3. That would make sense, if the couple and their children were from one area. The couple I'm checking on, however, had 2 children in Michigan, then moved to Hull, and had another one, then had all 3 children baptised into the Catholic church? Seems strange. We are not at all certain what went on, but are eternally grateful that they did something that showed where they were. I also found the 2 people who were the children's sponsors in the 1891 census for Hull. Lots of treasures for this family!!! Myra Herron Joan & Wayne Wilton <[email protected]> wrote: Many regions of early Canada, and I assume the US, didn't have resident clergy yet. They depended on cirucit ministers who got to their area perhaps only a few times a year and with their arrival, marriages of a number of couples and baptisms, sometimes of a whole family, were performed. It wouldn't be unheard of for a family to travel to another area to have their child/children baptized rather than risk no baptism at all in a era when survival was uncertain.
