One of the Hulls in Quebec seems to be THE one. Someone on line found the children, their christenings, and their parents, at Notre Dame de Grace. NOW, we have to find something out about that church. Where is it? What is their address or phone number? The finder was using ancestry.ca. I have ancestry.com, with a little additional Canadian access. Not good enough to pull up these christenings, however. Because we then had the child's name, we were able to find his birth, and today, his death! We have major break through!!! Together, we are Joshua! Now, does anyone know anything about that church? The christening date was June 5, 1887, for Thomas Daniel, Margerite-Annie and Maria Ellen Brown, parents being James Brown and Sarah McLean. Hey Myra, Just to confuse thing further, maybe the kids were born in Ottawa [per marriage record], but baptized across the canal in Hull, Quebec. Just a thought... Donna PS - I am so glad for your breakthough. It is always an awesome feeling when we find a lost ancestor who died young and "bring them home". Makes the family feel more complete.
That is possible. Health care is different between the provinces and so are the family laws. ----- Original Message ----- From: "D.C." <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]>; "'Myra Herron'" <[email protected]> Sent: Monday, October 20, 2008 11:03 PM Subject: [CAN-USA-MIG] Ottawa & Hull - BROWN family > Hey Myra, Just to confuse thing further, maybe the kids were born in > Ottawa > [per marriage record], but baptized across the canal in Hull, Quebec. > Just > a thought... > > Donna > > PS - I am so glad for your breakthough. Hi, Records for Notre-Dame-de-Grace, Hull QC were destroyed in a fire. I do not know if all records were destroyed but it is possible you will find them in Notre-Dame, Ottawa, ON. Good luck in your search Jackie> > One of the Hulls in Quebec seems to be THE one. Someone on line found the children, their christenings, and their parents, at Notre Dame de Grace. OF COURSE!!! The records for the cemetery in which Thomas was buried, along with the cemetery itself, were also burned to a crisp. In those days, forest fires and city fires were rampant. Our entire 1890 census, basically, was also burned in a fire. I guess it's lucky that we have as much as we do! Thank you for that information! With that name and location, I've found an email address. I'll write to them, and ask them the questions. I truly appreciate this information. myra Jackie Hillier <[email protected]> wrote: Hi, Records for Notre-Dame-de-Grace, Hull QC were destroyed in a fire.
