    2. Richard Murray
    3. Thank you to all that had a look at, and responded to my query, regarding the initials "HB", in the 1880 census. I am told there is a bracket and asterisk on the page and a note to the effect that the initials are actually meant to be "NB", for New Brunswick. With that confirmation, all the other details I have for these two boys fall into place. They were born in Albert County, New Brunswick and their parents and older brother, Charles, are found in 1880, in New Castle County, Delaware. Charles is listed as a "School teacher", which may account for the two younger boys being in that school in Boston. As well, there were other relatives to the boys, who lived in Boston. According to the trusty "Relationship Calculator" in my genealogy programme, they would be my "first cousin twice removed". I am very grateful to all who took the time and effort to respond... you are a wonderful group. Richard

    3. Has anyone on this list searched out or is otherwise familiar with the family of the Abram Marsh Hatfield, born 1802 or so, and Mary Cook, born 1806? I am finding conflicting information regarding at least some of the 15 or so kids that they had. Their son Jones is my direct ancestor. I believe they came from the Tusket area and moved to Beverly Mass USA. For example they supposedly had two daughters, Dora Ann and Deborah A, about 10 years apart. There are listings that show Deborah marrying a Mr Wilson and then Jacob Hatfield but on Nova Scotia Ancestry I can find a marriage of Jacob to Dora Wilson. There is also some variation in the names posted.. Thanks in advance faye

However, on the census sheet, the two "H B"s were bracketed, and marked with an asterisk. 2. At one time guilds carried a lot of power. The Hatters Guild had a law passed that men had to wear hats and those caught not wearing one were fined. Thought some of you might enjoy looking at this site showing those fined for not wearing hats in England. No idea if any will find a family name. http://freepages.history.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~exy1/fh_material/fines.txt Lauraine
