    3. What I can share with you is this: Here is an Ontario Locator (below) and some information gathered concerning London, Ontario (which is presently in Middlesex County). But as to the Isle of Jersey, I for one, don't know the exact positioning of this place geographically, so I don't have a point of reference for it. In 1846 a fire destroyed the files of the Registry Office in London back to 1839, and it was subsequently believed that, in fact, all the files back to 1800 had been burnt. However, the files for the period 1800-39 had never been lodged with the later ones (for resons too involved to explain now) and they were actually still in a Land Registry Office in Simcoe. There they stayed, neatly packed away in dusty old betal boxes, until 1972. In that year the moving of the office to another location led to a house-clearning operation and the files were discovered. They are now on microfilm in the D. B. Weldon Library in the University of Western Ontario, in London. There are also copies in the PAO, the Elgin County Libary, the London Public Library, and the Donly Museum in Simcoe. They can, of course, be borrowed though the inter-library loan system. In 1987, an alphabetical index was published inthe Ontarion Genealogical Society journal "Families", Vol.. 26 No. 4, as part of an article by Guy St. Denis, of the D. B. Weldon Library.
