Hello fellow listers..... I never thought there would be a list to deal with these 'early' arrivers, but sure appreciate the effort being put in here. Maybe you can give me some direction. This is all I have. "When Thomas BOURNE, Sr. sailed to Canada the trip took three months by sea. During this voyage he was in a shipwreck. They landed on some islands and he lost all his possessions. Among them was a family Bible with all the family records in it. It is unknown when they arrived in Canada, but is thought to be about 1836. He settled near Gananoque, near Brockville. Later he moved to a farm near Newboyne, Rideau Lake." The above is taken from information written in the 1920's and 30's about Thomas BOURNE. He was evidently a fairly well educated man for the time as this same source reveals that he taught school, also had a course in medicine from some natives (?) which he practiced in the vicitity. His wife and children apparently followed him to Canada the following year. If anyone can provide any information and/or direction as to how to search for him, I'd greatly appreciate it. Many thanks, Bonnie Menzer Barnes Perth, Western Australia
