Ann > Bennett Mix Ann, There are few passenger lists before 1865 but you may still find him. Please see my article at http://olivetreegenealogy.com/articles/immcanpre1865.shtml I think you need to narrow the time frame for immigration though. That's a 26 year time period (b 1810 Scotland, in Upper Canada 1836) The Coburg Star was in existence as early as 1831 (possibly earlier). Why not check there to see if there are any notices re your family? I have a link to available newspapers in Ontario (dates of publication and where they can be accessed) at my pages on Newspaper Resources at http://olivetreegenealogy.com/can/ont/ Select NEWSPAPER from the menu on this page. I checked on your behalf in the published 1831-1846 Death Notice entries for the Coburg Star and found the following: 1 July 1835. In this village [Coburg], on Sat. morning last, John, son of John Bennett aged 7 years and 7 months. I would check for more entries - arrivals? births? more deaths/obits? More ideas for you - check 1842 census (if there is one for this area) to find the number of years the family had been in Ontario. That will narrow the time frame if you find it. Also check land records - if John was a farmer he would likely have bought land almost immediately after arrival. That's another way to narrow the time of arrival.
