Ahoy there! Fellow Listers; Some of you may already know that I am in search of my EPWORTH relatives and ancestors worldwide. They certainly have been and still are an elusive bunch ... so far! To enhance my search, I have started and EPWORTH Message Board at: http://genforum.genealogy.com/epworth/messages/1.html Still in the wake of my 'olde sea dog' G-grandfather with a tad more information but still having no luck at all finding mention of marine records for CHARLES (Skipper) EPWORTH (1846 - 1911) in the UK or Canada. This is what I have to date: William EPWORTH b.abt 1820 and Mary (c/b Leathwaite) b.abt 1825, 1 known child. ( and possibly a daughter Ann b.1846) ...Charles (Skipper) EPWORTH b.6 Feb 1845 at 12 Ann St, Myton, Kingson upon Hull, Yorkshire, England d.22 May 1911 Newmarket, Ontario Canada. Married Jane HUSSEY b.11 June 1859 St. Giles, South Middlesex, England d.11 Feb 1951 Toronto, Ontario Canada (d/o James Hussey b. London, Middlesex 28 Jan 1821 and Susan --- b. St.Giles, South Middlesex 21 Jan 1823) (9 children well documented.) Charles (Skipper) EPWORTH was a mariner according to the children's birth certificates. While he was away at sea he carved ships for his 7 sons. Some were models and others were pictures. One of the ''pictures" has been berthed in 'our slip'. She is, frame and all, carved in 3 dimensions from a single piece of pine, about 3' x 2' x 5". See her at: http://liverpool-1825.tripod.com/GGship.JPG We know of 2 more "pictures" that are still in the family and am waiting for photos of same. They are all different ships he sailed on and all have a different harbour painted in background. (I'm hoping someone will recognize ship, harbour or both. <G>) I am also waiting for picture and description of one of the "models" that I just found out about from a cousin. I will upload them as well as soon as I receive them. Anything at all that you very knowledgable folk can offer in the way of description or identification will be most sincerely appreciated, and possibly another lead I can follow in this seemingly endless sea of ancient mariners. Many thanks for all you do and for the information I have gained since becoming a subscriber.
