    3. OK, gotta bite on this one. Amherstburg, Ontario. Near Windsor. Island across from Amherstburg became Bob-Lo Island. Is this the same island as the one you mention? -----Original Message----- From: Jim Galley [mailto:jgalley@zeuter.com] Sent: Friday, June 28, 2002 10:22 AM To: CAN-SHIPSLISTS-PRE1865-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [CanShipsPre1865] ASHBY FAMILY My Gr Gr grandparents, William & Sarah Ashby arrived in Canada in 1862. They came from Nuneaton in Warwicksire,England. Their 1st child, Mary Ann, my Gr grandmother, was born 14 Aug 1962, on Amherst Island. I am trying to find any information about their arrival in Canada. I am also interested in learning why the landed on Amherst Island. Was Kingston a port where ships landed at that time or would they have arrived at Quebec or Montreal and made their way to Kingston? Any information greatly appreciated. Regards, Jim.
