Go to http://olivetreegenealogy.com/articles/immcanpre1865.shtml There are very few useful immigration records prior to 1865. Until that year, shipping companies were not required by the government to retain their passenger manifests. There are a few lists pertaining to British-subsidized immigration schemes for the period 1817-1831 and these are available from the National Archives of Canada in Ottawa but that is outside your time frame. There is a Miscellaneous Immigration Index to some records and it is available for consultation in the NAC Reference Room. It relates mostly to immigrants from the British Isles to Quebec and Ontario between the years 1801 and 1849. There is also C.O. 384: This group is correspondence of the Secretary of State on immigration for 1817-1857. There are 60 reels of microfilm for Vols 1-99. There are lists of immigrants, mainly Irish, and entry books re immigration, and assisted emigration to British North America. There is more, it can be found at the URL I gave you above. Having said that, you may find help at the following sites: http://olivetreegenealogy.com/ships/tocanpo1.htm Online Ships to Canada http://olivetreegenealogy.com/ships/search_shipscanada.shtml Search ships to Canada on multiple internet sites You can also search InGeneas databases from the search engine above - there is one free and one fee based InGeneas database, but you can still view the index information for free Also try http://www.theshipslist.com/pictures/wards.html Lorine **Search Ships Passenger Lists to USA http://olivetreegenealogy.com/ships/search_ships.shtml **Search Ships Passenger Lists to Canada http://olivetreegenealogy.com/ships/search_shipscanada.shtml **Search Ships Passenger Lists to Australia/New Zealand http://olivetreegenealogy.com/ships/searchships_aus.shtml otg@csolve.net
