The register kept by the Anglican Travelling Missionaries for 1847 has many Grosse Isle entries, mostly burials but some baptisms. The priest, Armine Mountain, was diligent about recording the name of the ship, parish of origin and - when available - the parents' names of the person who was being buried. This is a possible source of information for those whose ancestors came to Quebec from Britain and Ireland in 1847. Families left their deceased loved ones at Grosse Isle and travelled further to found their lives in the new land. The information is to found on microfilm no. 138/10 available from the Archives nationales du Québec.
