Hi list I am trying to help my hubby learn about his roots, and could sure use some advice and help!! on 1881 census I found this listing James AUMELIE M Male Irish 35 Ireland Clerk Catholic Isabelle AUMELIE Female Irish 8 Quebec Scholar Anglican Charles AUMELIE Male Irish 10 Quebec Scholar Anglican John BOYCE M Male Irish 24 Quebec Anglican Isabelle BOYCE M Female Irish 24 Quebec Anglican John Nelson BOYCE Male Irish 7 Quebec Scholar Anglican Source Information: Census Place Notre-Dame Ward, Trois-Rivieres, Ste-Maurice, Quebec Family History Library Film 1375850 NA Film Number C-13214 District 83 Sub-district D Page Number 9 Household Number 34 ____________________ I have this marriage reg. from MATTAWA which seems to fit well with the above On the 2nd November one thousand eight hundred eighty one, we the undersigned priest, after the giving of three bans and service granted by us by virtue of the powers given to us by Monsignor J. Bishop Thomas Duhamel of Ottawa, have received the mutual consent of marriage between John BOYCE widower in his first wedding of Isabella Haddams ( believe it should say ADAMS) from Trois Riviere on the one hand and Matilda Belair minor daughter of Olesime Belair and Suzanne Laronde consent. Were present at the agreement of marriage. Olesime Belair, the girl's father and Jean Allard her brother-in-law who were unable to sign with us. I am trying to learn about John Boyce, John and Matilda's daughter Agnes married Eugene Lafleur June 29, 1908 in North Bay. These are my husbands grandparents. John Boyce married Isabella Adams in Trois-Rivieres Prebyterian Church July 31, 1872 she was a minor when she married and I think her father was Alexander Adams I would love to known more about John Boyce, who were his parents ? where he was from his birth / bapt date etc. I don't think his age is correct on this census because on marriage registration it say he was of age and a bachlor so had to be 21 years at least in 1872. I found no death for his wife Isabelle she had to have died in 1881 after census was taken and what happened to John Nelson ? As you can see a thousand questions :-) Any help to solve this puzzle greatly appreciated Cheers Sheila Stewart-Lafleur

Bonjour ! (Hello!) I am purposely omitting all diacritic marks. Like you, I do not speak French (francais). A good French - English dictionary is all you really need to translate baptism (bapteme) information. I say this because most church baptism entries are simple, form-like, and without narrative sentences. The few words you must know are name (nom), father (pere), mother (mere) and witness (temoin). Bon chance ! Hello Sheila I'm sorry I can't help you with your Campbell/Stewart/Patton ancestry, but I have a question for you....This is just a shot in the dark....I was wondering how you are related to the Lafleur side of the family. My husband's mother was a Lafleur. I have a huge family history on the Lafleur's. She was Doreen Sarah Leafloor. The name was anglicised sometime in the 1800's when one of her ancestors left the family in Lower Canada, and came to the Bytown/Nepean area. She was the daughter of Howard Leafloor and Florence Lillian Reardon. Howard was the son of Samuel Lafleur and Florence Evelyn Marks. Samuel Lafleur was the son of Thomas Lafleur and Elizabeth Charlotte Sharp. Thomas was the son of Samuel Lafleur and Nancy Twaites Smith Samuel was the son of Dorothee Lafleur, who had him illigitimately, on Aug 21, 1820. The family continues back further....but I won't go there right now.....Could this be your family? hi Dan Thank you for your email. It took me awhile to find St. Andrews East. then I found it under St Andre' d'Argenteuil I have seen those websites you where kind enough to send to me. I was able to learn alot on the history of Argenteuil County. What I am trying to learn about is WHEN my Archibald Stewart immigrated to Canada, I have not found him on any passenger list. I am hoping I have the year 1819 correct but could be 1820 too depending on Davids birthdate , as I said I have the date of his death and his age at time of death. Would it make sense that Archibald & Flora on arrival to Quebec register a son in St. Andrew's East..... then move on to Lachine had 2 more children I don't know, I was hoping some wise person online with a knowledge of the areas and time period could help me sort it out Cheers Sheila ----- Original Message ----- From: "D.
