    3. Saturday, October 30, 2004 Gertrude Y. Lachance 1919-2004 MANCHESTER -- Gertrude Y. Lachance, 85, of Pelton Hill Road and formerly of Drew Street, Augusta, died Friday, Oct. 29, 2004, at MaineGeneral Rehabilitation and Nursing Care Center, Gray Birch, following a long illness. She was born in Augusta on Jan. 3, 1919, a daughter of the late Elzear and Lucie (Bilodeau) Pepin. She had been employed by the state Motor Vehicle Department for 12 years, retiring in 1981. She previously was employed by Nicholson and Ryan Jewelers and W.T. Grants. Mrs. Lachance was a communicant of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, where she was a longtime Eucharistic minister; a member of the Ladies of St. Anne Society and Cushnoc Senior Citizens; and a former member of St. Mary's Guild. She enjoyed sewing, reading and her grandchildren. Mrs. Lachance was predeceased by two brothers, Alcide and Willie Pepin; and four sisters, Gloria Rouillard, Annie Dube, Lucienne Michaud and Cecile Doyon. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Wilfred J. Lachance of Manchester; two sons, Norman R. Lachance and his wife, Brenda, of Manchester and Richard P. Lachance and his wife, Jodie, of Augusta; a daughter, Dr. Linda L. Wolcott and her husband, Edward, of Providence, Utah; six grandchildren, two stepgrandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Relatives and friends may visit from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta, where officers and members of the Ladies of St. Anne Society are asked to meet at 3 p.m. to recite prayers for their departed member. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, Western Avenue, Augusta. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Manchester.
