VIOLET (ARMSTRONG) DUMAS SOLTYS - Fall River 01:00 AM EST on Tuesday, November 2, 2004 VIOLET (ARMSTRONG) DUMAS SOLTYS, 96, of 100 Amity St., and formerly of Tiverton, a retired seamstress, died yesterday at the Southpointe Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was the wife of the late Roland Dumas Sr., and of the late Jan "John" Soltys. Born in Woonsocket, a daughter of the late Adam and Eva (Dufresne) Armstrong, she had lived in Woonsocket, in North Dartmouth, Mass., for 10 years, in North Smithfield for 6 years, in Fall River for 4 years, and in Tiverton for most of her life. Mrs. Soltys had been a seamstress for the former Cherry and Webb Co. for many years before retiring. She was a former member of the Colonial Village Senior Citizens Club, in North Smithfield. She leaves two daughters, Claudette Mathews of North Dartmouth and Pauline Dumas of Honomu, Hawaii; a brother, Roger Armstrong in Oregon; two sisters, Bella Bacon of North Smithfield and Lucille Vanasse of North Smithfield; 13 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, a great-great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Roland Dumas Jr. and Richard Dumas, and the sister of the late Adam, Walter, Raymond and Stella Armstrong. The funeral will be held tomorrow at 9:30 a.m. from the Auclair Funeral Home, 690 South Main St., with a funeral Mass at 10 in St. Anne's Church, South Main Street. Cremation will follow.
