Matthias Marquardt STRAFFORD - Matthias Marquardt of Strafford, 71, died Monday, Nov. 1, 2004, in Dover. He was born in Augusta, Maine on May 20, 1933, the only child of Matthias Marquardt, MD, and Ruby (Dennis) Marquardt. He graduated from Cony High School in Augusta and from the University of Maine in 1956, with a degree in mechanical engineering. He worked as a design engineer for many years with General Electric, Sanders Associates, and Honeywell. In 1974, he became a Realtor, specializing in land sales. He served on the Rochester Planning Board and the Strafford Regional Planning Board for many years. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Seacoast Woodworkers, and NH Guild of Woodworkers. In years of good health, he enjoyed hiking, sail boat racing, skiing, woodworking, and photography. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Mary (Bailey) Marquardt; his daughter, Johanna Clark, her husband, Philip, of Virginia Beach and their son Evan, and a cousin, Ginger (Helen) Jackson of Laconia. - - - A celebration of his life will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 34 South Main St., Rochester.
