    3. Edward L. Mercure Edward L. Mercure 1930 - 2004 CHICOPEE - Edward L. "Ed" Mercure, 74, of the Fairview section of Chicopee was Called Safely Home on Monday November 8, 2004. He was employed for 39 years as a master machinist for the Hamilton Standard Company in Windsor Locks, Connecticut and retired in 1992. He was born in Ludlow on November 6, 1930 a beloved son of the late George A. and Rose Bertha (Boucher) Mercure and moved to Chicopee in 1965. He served his country during the Korean War with the 9th Infantry Division and attained the rank of Sergeant First Class. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed a good bowling game. He leaves his beloved wife of 50 years, Lorraine D. (Cloutier) Mercure. They were married at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Willimansett on September 4, 1954. He also leaves his loving children, Gary E. Mercure and his wife Cathleen of Enfield, CT, Glenn M. Mercure and his wife Barbara of Birchwood, TN and Lisa M. Mercure of Chicopee. His five cherished grandchildren, Eric G. Mercure, Ryan E. Mercure, Danielle Mercure, Glenn M. Mercure, Jr. and Dayna Mercure. His dear brother, Andrew Mercure and his wife Yvonne of Daytona, FL. His dear sisters, Theresa Stebbins of Las Vegas, NV and Rose Dudley and her husband William of Arizona. His dear sister-in-law, Mary Mercure of Springfield and his many dear nephews and nieces. He will be dearly missed by his close friends, Stanley and Barbara Rosienski of Chicopee. His Funeral Service will be held on Friday morning November 12, 2004 at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, 13 Dale Street at the junction of Grattan Street in Chicopee. His burial with Military Honors will follow the service at Saint Rose Cemetery on Olsen Street in Aldenville. His family will receive friends in the Rose Chapel at the funeral home on Thursday November 11, 2004 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home off of Lafayette Street. For those who prefer to make a memorial donation, they may be made in his memory to the Alzheimers Association, PO Box 2873, Springfield, MA 01101-2873 or to the Holyoke Soldiers Home Activity Fund, 110 Cherry Street, Holyoke, MA 01040. His family would like to thank the caring staff at the Holyoke Soldiers Home Unit 1-North for the excellent and compassionate care that Ed received while he was a patient there.
