Obituaries Edward W. Martin November 8, 2004 BRATTLEBORO - Edward W. "Bub" Martin, 72, died Nov. 4, 2004, at Eden Park Nursing Home. He was born in Brattleboro July 12, 1932, the son of Walter and Gladys (Benoit) Martin. He was raised and educated in Brattleboro, attending St. Michael's School. Mr. Martin worked for the town of Brattleboro for 29 years for the Department of Public Works, retiring in 1995. Previously, he had worked for the former Crosby Milling Co. in Brattleboro. For a brief time, with his wife, he resided in Fitchburg, Mass., and worked at Burbank Hospital before moving back to Brattleboro. He was a former communicant of St. Michael's Catholic Church, and in recent years attended Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Brattleboro. Mr. Martin enjoyed the outdoors, collecting old bottles and animals. On Feb. 7, 1953, he married Aline D. Bald at St. Michael's Church. Beside his wife of 51 years, he is survived by two sons, Richard Martin of Brattleboro and Dean Martin of Milton; two daughters, Diane Corey of Salisbury and Cindy Foster of Brattleboro; two sisters, Virginia Carey of Walpole, N.H., and Dorothy Martin of Hinsdale, N.H.; five grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his mother in January 2002. The memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Nov. 21 at Kingdom Hall on Edwards Heights in Brattleboro. Burial will be private in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Hinsdale. There are no calling hours. Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to Eden Park Nursing Home Activities Fund, 187 Oak Grove Ave., Brattleboro 05301.
