"Friday" Langevin, 73, of Read Schoolhouse Road, an aircraft instrument mechanic at the Quonset Point Naval Air Station, North Kingstown, for 12 years before retiring in 1972, died Saturday at the Veterans Administration Medical Center. He was the husband of Edna M. (Ford) Langevin. Born in Wauregan, Conn., a son of the late Edmund and Exilia (Mailloux) Langevin, he lived in Coventry for 33 years. He previously lived in Cairns, N.Q., Australia. While in Australia he was a clockmaker and watchmaker. He was owner of the former Friday's restaurant, West Warwick. Mr. Langevin was a past grand knight of Monsignor Blessing Council, Knights of Columbus, from 1990 to 1991. In October, he was honored with a dinner for being the grand knight for a year. He was a past commander of Maurice H. Pion Chapter 17, DAV, West Warwick, and a past commander of Amvets Post 6. He was an Army veteran of World War II, and served in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater. He served in the 503th Paratroopers Division, and was an original member of the 501st Paratroopers Battlion from Fort Benning, Ga. Besides his wife he leaves a son, Henry W. Langevin of Moosup, Conn.; three daughters, Adelaide L. Warner of Coventry, Exilia M. Therriault of Coventry, and Eudora D. Paglio of Cranston; two brothers, Oliver, Rosaire Langevin; two sisters, Delarosa Flury and Doris Tavares, all of West Warwick; 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. The funeral will be held Wednesday at 9 a.m. from the Robert A. Iannotti & Sons Funeral Home, 415 Washington St., Route 117, with a concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial at 10 at SS. John & Paul Church, South Main Street. Burial with military honors will be in the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter.
