Meme (Dumas) Bergevin, 88, of 57 Halford St., died Saturday in Baldwinville Nursing Home, Baldwinville, after a long illness. Her husband, William E. Bergevin, died in 1986. She leaves a son, Roger W. Bergevin of Templeton; four daughters, Lorraine A. Brackett and Janet E. Lawrence, both of Templeton, Joan G. Powers of Baldwinville and Lucille A. Bergevin of Westminster; a sister, Edna Racette of Phillipston; 15 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson. A sister, Leona Brodeur Gorton of Florida, died in 1996, and another sister, Yvonne Dumas of Colraine, died in 1974. She was born in Gardner, daughter of Wilfred and Elzia (Cote) Dumas. Mrs. Bergevin was an attendant at the Walter E. Fernald School in Templeton, retiring in 1973. She was previously a seamstress at the former Kuniholmes Co. She was a member of Holy Rosary Church and its Ladies of St. Anne Sodality, and was also a member of the Daughters of Isabella. She was a former bowler with the Gardner Golden Agers, and was an avid bingo player. The funeral will be held Wednesday from Lamoureux-Fletcher Community Funeral Home, 105 Central St., with a Mass at 9:30 a.m. in Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols St. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Westminster. Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow in the funeral home.
