McCaghy, 68, of 713 Macomber St., Chippewa Falls, died Saturday, April 19, 2003 at his residence surrounded by his family with St. Joseph's Hospice. He was born August 12, 1934 in Eau Claire, the son of James and Katherine (Urness) McCaghy. He had worked for Graphic Printing in Eau Claire for 29 years. He served in the United States Army in Korea and was in graves registration from 1956 to 1959. He married Geraldine Bergevin on July 11, 1959 at Notre Dame Church, Chippewa Falls. He was a member of St. Charles Church. He is survived by his wife, Geraldine; three daughters, Michelle (Ken) Arneson and Melinda (Allen) Walker both of Chippewa Falls and Melissa Halmstad of Ladysmith; his father-in-law, Wilfred Bergevin of Chippewa Falls; one sister, Marcella (Don) Corn of Menomonie; six grandchildren, Katie and Spencer Mayer, Justin and Emmet Walker and Brandon and Sebastian Halmstad and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two grandchildren, Sabrina Halmstad and Zachary Mayer. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 22, 2003 at St. Charles Church, Chippewa Falls. Rev. Albert Sonnberger will be celebrant of the funeral Mass. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, Chippewa Falls. Military rites will be conducted by the Chippewa Falls Patriotic Council. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 21, 2003 and until 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Horan Funeral Home, Chippewa Falls. There will be a Christian Vigil Service at 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. He was a self-taught wood and relief carver. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and telling them stories. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed restoring his vehicles.
