(Binette) Fortier Drew, 74, died on May 15 at the Sandal Wood Manor in Denver. She was born in Black Lake, Canada on January 28, 1929, the daughter of Joseph and Valerie (Turcotte) Binette and came to Maine in 1947 from Canada with her siblings and became a hairdresser and married in Sanford, ME. She was educated in Canada and also in Maine. Suzanne lived in Berlin for many years and also in Gorham. She worked as a hairdresser from her home in Berlin and Gorham. She had many talents, was a great cook and loved working with her flowers, gardening and caring for the elderly. She was a member of St. Joseph Church in Berlin and Holy Family Church in Gorham. Members of the family include two sons: Jeff Fortier and wife Marilyn of Denver, CO, and David Fortier of Berlin; granddaughters and grandsons; four brothers: Antonio Binette and wife Yolande of Canada, Roland Binette and wife Monique of Canada, Ray Binette and wife Muriel of Berlin, and Andre Binette and wife Claudette of Gorham; four sisters: Theresa L’Heureux and husband Robert of Sanford, ME, Francoise Desrochers of Sanford, ME, Madeleine Desmerais of Canada, and Pauline Peters and husband Donald of Sanford, ME; a sister in law: Madeline Binette of Derby, VT; many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She was predeceased by her first husband: Armand Fortier; her second husband: Donald Drew; a son: Ronald who died Nov. 29, 1973; and a brother: Robert Binette who died June 16, 1993. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated June 13 at 11 a.m. at Holy Family Church, Gorham, with burial in the Holy Family Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. Anyone who wishes to make a donation in her memory can do so tothe charity of one’s choice.
