    3. THE REPUBLICAN Springfield, MA 21 August 2007 Kathleen M. Goodrow 1950-2007 SPRINGFIELD, MASS. - Kathleen M. (Egan) Goodrow, 57, a lifelong resident of Springfield, passed away on Sunday evening. Born on June 18, 1950, she was the daughter of the late James L. Egan and Annette M. (Theroux) Egan and attended local schools, graduating from Commerce High School in 1969. After graduation, she began working as a file clerk for the City of Springfield in the City Hall. Predominantly a homemaker, she was an active member of the PTO of Glenwood School and served as a Noon Mother during the lunch recess for 6 years. She enjoyed easy-listening music but most of all, helping to care for her two grandchildren. Besides her mother, Kathleen is survived by her husband, Daniel E. Goodrow, a son, John D. Goodrow and his wife Mary of East Longmeadow, a daughter, Kelly Goodrow of Springfield and two grandchildren, Jonah and Ellah Goodrow and numerous cousins in the Holyoke/South Hadley area. The funeral will be held on Thursday, August 23, 2007 in the Corridan Funeral Home, 333 Springfield St., Chicopee at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Chicopee. Calling hours at the funeral home will be held on Wednesday from 4 to 8 P.M. Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 516 Carew St., Springfield, MA 01104. (Plasse) Tower 1924 - 2007 CHICOPEE, MASS. - Theresa-Mary (Plasse) Tower of Chicopee passed away Saturday, August 18, at a local nursing home. Born in Springfield on July 7, she resided in Chicopee for past 15 years. Theresa was a bus driver for several years at the Holyoke Street Railway in Holyoke. She is survived by her 3 sons, Albert Recor, Jr. of Northampton, Lawrence Recor and Edward Tower both of Chicopee; her 2 daughters, Elizabeth Tower of Chicopee and Diane Tower both of Chicopee; her 2 daughters, Elizabeth Tower of Chicopee a nd Diane Tower of Springfield; and by her sister, Evelyn Kupiec of Agawam. She was predeceased by her husband Ernest Tower, Sr., her son Ernest, Jr., and a daughter, Patricia. Family and friends will meet for a Liturgy of Christian Burial on Wednesday at 10 a.m. in Holy Name of Jesus Church, Chicopee, followed by burial in Fairview Cemetery. A calling hour will be held on Tuesday from 1 p.m. - 2 p.m., in Byron Funeral Home, 1858 Allen St., Springfield. Published in The Republican on 8/21/2007. =============================== THE REPUBLICAN Springfield, MA 21 August 2007 Julia M. Trombley 1925 - 2007 WILBRAHAM, MASS. - Julia M. (Porteri) Trombley passed away on Saturday August 18, 2007 surrounded by her family. She was born in Wilbraham, MA on October 22, 1925 to the late John and Edvidge (Consolini) Porteri. Julia was a longtime Wilbraham resident. She attended Wilbraham's Little Red Schoolhouse and graduated from Commerce High School in Springfield in 1942. Upon graduation she worked for the New England Telephone Company in the accounting department. During WWII she enlisted in the US Cadet Nursing Corp and attended training at Norwalk Hospital Nursing School, Norwalk, CT. She married Raymond G. Trombley on October 27, 1945. Together with her sisters, they operated the family-owned High Tower Tea Room atop Wilbraham Mountain. "The Tower" was a landmark gathering place for many area residents. Julie was the co-founder of the first public kindergarten established in Wilbraham. She was a Girl Scout leader and was active in St. Cecilia's Church as a group leader of the Junior Catholic Daughters of America. She was a communicant of the St. Cecilia's Church, a member of St. Cecilia's Women's Club, the church choir and chairwoman of the church bazaar during the fifties and sixties. Julie started Tower Hill Greenhouse in 1963 along with her husband. They were well known for growing geraniums and operated the greenhouse as a seasonal business for 44 years. She was also a member of the American Ex-POW group and the Westover Officer's Club. Besides her parents Julia was predeceased by her brother Lawrence Porteri, and four sisters, Alice Hodgdon, Louise Scafidi, Beatrice Prokop, and Clara Elkas. She is survived by her husband of over sixty years, Raymond G. Trombley; her daughter, Pamela Reed and her husband Loring of Wilbraham; a granddaughter Christina Reed and a grandson, Michael Reed; a sister Dorothy Simpson and her husband John of Nashua, NH; and her nieces and nephews. A funeral home service for Julia will be held on Friday morning August 24th 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at Sampson's Chapel of the Acres Funeral Home, 21 Tinkham Road, Springfield. Rites of committal and burial to follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 421 Tinkham Road, Springfield. Visiting hours at the funeral home are Thursday August 23rd 2007 from 4 to 7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Cecilia's Church, the Wilbraham Veteran's Park, and the Wilbraham Garden Club.
