    3. THE REPUBLICAN Springfield, MA. 22 August 2007 Armand F. Benoit WILBRAHAM, MASS. - Armand F. Benoit, 88, formerly of 3 Pine Drive, Wilbraham, died Monday in a local nursing home. Born in Springfield, son of the late Armand L. & Irma (Martin) Benoit. He was a graduate of the former Springfield Trade School and was an Army Veteran of World War II, serving with the 530th Anti Aircraft Artillery Battalion. He was a recipient of the Army of Occupation Medal of Germany, Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal, the American Theater Campaign Ribbon and the European and African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon. He was an auto mechanic and service manager for various automotive businesses and also worked for United Sales. He was a member of Grace Union Church of Wilbraham. Armand and his wife Frances (Herter) Benoit just celebrated their 66th Wedding Anniversary, August 3rd. Beside his loving wife, he is survived by one son, Craig B. Benoit and his wife Jane of Monson, on daughter, Dona Mentzen and her husband, Hans of Wilbraham, his grandchildren, Hans H. Mentzen 2nd, Brian A. Benoit and Teddy J. Benoit, his great grandchildren, Tommy, Michael, Christopher, Justin and Josh. Armand was predeceased by one daughter, Nina L. Benoit. A memorial service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in the Grace Union Church, with the Rev. David Hurst officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Dell Cemetery, Wilbraham. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Grace Union Church, Chapel St., Wilbraham, MA 01095. Wilbraham Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements. Deforge, 66, of Farmington St. died Monday, August 20, 2007, at his home after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in South Hadley. Paul was the son of the late Leo and Antoinette (Chabot) Deforge. He graduated from Rosary High School. Paul served in the United States Army. He was a welder for A.R. Green and Baystate Gas. He was a member of the American Legion in Fairview and Labor Union 596. Paul was predeceased by a son Michael. He is survived by his wife, Jean (Laverdiere) Sicard Deforge, his children, Laurie J. O'Connell and her husband Jim of Chicopee, Mark A. Deforge and his wife Laura of South Hadley, his stepchildren: Michael Sicard of South Hadley, Kenneth Sicard and Justin Sicard both of Chicopee; his sister Lorraine Adams of Falmouth, also his five grandchildren, Kayla, Ashley, Dylan, Nathan and Leona. The funeral for Paul will be held Friday at 9 a.m. from the Ryder Funeral Home followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Patrick Church both in South Hadley. His burial will be at the convenience of the family. Calling hours will be held Thursday from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Guyette was a proud World War II United States Army veteran. He is survived by three sons, David P., Richard G., and Alan P. Guyette. A graveside service with military honors will be held on Friday, August 24 at 2:30 pm at the Brookside Cemetery in Easthampton. (Mercier) Lamery, 84 passed away peacefully on August 10 at UMass Medical Center in Worcester, with her beloved son and daughter-in-law by her side. Dotty was a lifetime resident of Palmer, born January 8, 1923. She was the eldest child of the late Louis J. Mercier and Dorothy E. Cosgrove. Dotty was a graduate of Palmer High School, class of 1940. She retired from the Wing Memorial Hospital in 1985, after 24 years of service, then she worked for the Quaboag Visiting Nurse Association from 1986 to 2002. Most recently, and up until several weeks ago, she worked for the Palmer Senior Center. She was the wife of the late Bernard Lamery, who died in 1985. Dotty was also predeceased by her sister, Marjorie Morgara and her brother, Sidney "Kiki" Mercier. She is survived by her son, Dick Lamery and his wife, Pat of Belchertown; her brother, Louis Mercier and his wife, Gertrude of Three Rivers; her sisters, Patricia Severage of Monson, and Geraldine Olson and her husband, Harold of Palmer. She will be greatly missed by her grandchildren, Rick Lamery of Tumwater, WA, Mary Lamery and Dianne Lamery of Seattle, WA; her great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Work of Seattle, Annikah, Allison and Jacob Lamery of Tumwater, WA. Services will be Friday, August 24 from the Motyka Funeral Home, 2186 Main St., Three Rivers, MA beginning at 9:15 am followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial in Sts. Peter & Paul Church. Calling hours will be Thursday, August 23 from 5pm to 7 pm. Burial will be in St. Thomas Cemetery, Thorndike. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Quaboag Valley Visiting Nurse Association, 42B, Wright St., Palmer, MA 01069, or you may donate blood in Dotty's memory at the American Red Cross Blood Donor Center, 3500 Main St., Springfield, MA, or at any area blood drive. (Gould) LaPan, 60, of Chestnut St. died Sunday at home. She was employed in the office at Mestek Manufacturing in Westfield. She lived most of her life in West Springfield and was a communicant of St. Thomas Church. She was a graduate of East Longmeadow High School and later Bay Path College in Longmeadow. She was a former member of the West Springfield Town Meeting and was a member of the Red Hat Society. She was the beloved widow of the late Robert Lapan and Justin "Frank" Barry. She leaves her brother Wesley Gould and her sister Bonnie Gould, her cousin John Russell and his wife Nancy, her stepson Robert B. LaPan, stepdaughter Cheryl LaPan , many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. There will be a Funeral Service 11:00 AM Thurs. at Toomey-O'Brien Funeral Home, 1043 Westfield St., West Spfld. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
