    3. THE REPUBLICAN Springfield, MA. 8 August 2007 Jeannette A. (Giroux) Barry 1929 - 2007 GRANBY, MASS. - Jeannette-Agnes (Giroux) Barry, age 78, passed away at home with her loving family at her side in Granby after an extended illness on August 6, 2007. She was born in Holyoke on July 18, 1929 daughter of the late Zenophile and Agnes Giroux. Jeannette was a graduate of South Hadley High School and was a beautician early on. Although having lived in Granby and South Hadley for many years, she and her husband, Neil and family, lived in Grand Island, NY; then Palm Harbor, FL for eleven years. Upon retirement, Jeannette and Neil, for the past eighteen years, lived at Mountain Lakes Resort in Helen, GA. They enjoyed many years of memberships at golf and country clubs on the east coast. Jeannette was a golf Club Champion for three consecutive years at Tarpon Lakes Country Club in Palm Harbor, FL. Her second hole in one was at her member guest tournament at Countryside Country Club in Clearwater, FL. Although golf was her favorite pastime, her first priority has always been to her husband and family of six children and twelve grandchildren. Jeannette assisted the elderly in Florida Nursing Homes as a Certified Nurses Aid for many years and, for the past ten years, managed a property rental business at Innsbruck Golf Resort in Helen, GA, where her husband worked in the Pro Shop for eighteen years. She was a communicant of St. Paul's Catholic Church there. Jeannette and Neil recently relocated to Granby, MA. Family was Jen's love, pride, and joy, leaving many memories of family camping trips and reunions. She was predeceased by her brother George Giroux. Jeannette is survived by her devoted husband of 57 years, Neil; sister Mary Smith of South Hadley; brother Tony Regan of Granby and sister-in-law Julie Giroux of Mechanicsburg, PA; brothers and sisters-in-law Jack and Dot Barry of South Hadley; Rick and Linda Barry of VA; Also her children, son David and wife Nancy and four grandchildren of Charlotte, NC; daughter Gail and husband Russ Flynn and two grandchildren of St. Petersburg, FL, son Chuck and wife Donna and one grandchild of Franklinton, NC; daughter Lynn Barry and two grandchildren of Granby; daughter Patty and husband Mike Marion and one grandchild of Granby and son Danny and wife Angie and two grandchildren of Spring Hill, FL, as well as several nieces and nephews. Jeannette will be sorely missed by her friends and family. The funeral will be held on Friday morning at 8:45 from the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, Holyoke, followed by a Mass at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Granby at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Northampton. Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 4 - 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, friends may contribute in her memory to Hospice Life Care and Holyoke Visiting Nurse Association, St. Jude's Children's Hospital (her favorite lifetime charity) or the American Heart Association.
