    3. THE REPUBLICAN Springfield, MA 30 May 2007 Richard E. Couture, Sr. 1927 - 2007 CHICOPEE, MASS. - Richard E Couture Sr. died peacefully at home on Memorial Day, May 28th, 2007. He was born in Holyoke Jan. 27, 1927 son of the late Eugene & Lucia (Richard) Couture. He graduated from Perpetual Help School, Holyoke High School, and American International College. He was a WWII veteran having served in the Navy as a Radioman 3rd class, V-6, USNR. He was a former Personnel Manager at Diamond International Corp. in Springfield and a Personnel Administrator at United Technologies Corp. (formerly American Bosch) in Springfield. He was also the President of The Industrial Relations Association of Western Mass. He and his wife moved to Chicopee in 1955. He was a communicant of Nativity B.V.M. parish. He was involved in scouting and also coached youth baseball. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Simone M (Gagnon) Couture and his 4 children: son Richard E Couture Jr. and his wife Maryann of Glastonbury CT, son Robert R Couture of Pembroke MA and his wife Laura, son David J Couture and his wife Jean of Westminster MA, and daughter Paula M Mendrala and her husband Joseph of Holyoke MA. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren: James Couture of Glastonbury CT, Janet Combs of Charlotte NC, Jennifer Preston of Kittery ME, Mariah and Larissa Couture of Westminster MA, and Adam Mendrala of Holyoke MA. Funeral services are Thursday May 31 at 9am from the Brunelle Funeral Home, 811 Chicopee St, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10am at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery in South Hadley. Calling hours at the funeral home are today (Wednesday, May 30) from 4 to 8PM. Morin, 82, died Monday, March 26, 2007, at The Manors of Hobe Sound. He was born in Laconia, N.H., the son of Ralph and Ethel (Gibson) Morin, and lived in Martin County for 19 years, coming from Agawam, Mass. He served in the Air Corps as a decorated aviation pilot. He worked for Monsanto in Springfield, Mass., as a chemical engineer and trouble shooter.When Mr. Morin was five years old, he dug the first shovel full of dirt at the groundbreaking ceremony for St. Joseph's Church, Laconia, NH. Survivors include his wife of 19 years, Joann Helff Morin; two daughters, Roberta Morin Harnois of Springfield, Mass., and Deborah Morin King of Agawam, Mass.; four sons, Ralph Morin of Plymouth, N.H., Michael Morin of Gilford, N.H., Paul Morin of Feeding Hills, Mass., and William Morin of Laconia; stepdaughters, Lucy Picone of Palos Verdes, Calif., and Joann Picone of Jupiter; four stepsons, Richard Picone of Redondo Beach, Calif., Joseph Picone of Carmel, N.Y., John Picone and Robert Picone, both of Hastings-on Hudson, N.Y.; 20 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and a brother, Frank Morin. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Lillian Morin, a daughter, Christine Morin, by his sister, Verna Morin. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph Church, 30 Church Street, Laconia, NH on Saturday, June 9, 2007 at 10:00AM. Rev. Gary J. Ouimette 76, of Parc Place, Southampton died Sunday May 27 in the Cooley Dickinson Hospital, Northampton. He was born May 5, 1931 in Northampton the son of the late Myron and Catherine (Stokely) Ouimette. He attended schools in Easthampton and graduated from Holyoke Trade. He attended Allied Institute of Technology in Chicago and attended Westfield State College and Framingham State College. He owned the former Charles E. Ouimette and Sons Construction Co. in Southampton before becoming a teacher at Chicopee Comp. from 1981 to 1996. Charles was a communicant of Immaculate Conception Church and former member of the Southampton Lion's Club, Easthampton Knights of Columbus. He was active in town government in Southampton since 1976 a member of the Planning Board and in 1980 was appointed Assistant Director of Inspection Services and in 1981 became the Director of Inspection Services and Zoning Inforcement Officer. Charles was a Scout Master, 4 H-Leader, Band Booster Club and Sports Booster Club for Hampshire Regional High School. He was a Korean War Veteran serving in the US Airborne Rangers. He retired from teaching in 1996 and his Government activities in 2005. Charles was named Southampton Citizen of the year in 2004. Charles is survived by his wife Constance (Paradise) Ouimette, six sons Charles E. and Mary Kathleen Ouimette, Thomas G. Ouimette, David M. and Linda Ouimette and James M. and Evelyn Ouimette all of Southampton and Michael J. and Jennifer Ouimette of Everett , John W. and Mary Ouimette of Holyoke and one sister Anna Lewandowski of Easthampton and 12 grandchildren. The funeral will be Friday June 1 at 9.15 am in the Mitchell Funeral Home, 15 Park Street, Easthampton followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in the Immaculate Conception Church, Easthampton. Burial with Military Honors will be in the Center Cemetery, Southampton. Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday from 4 to 8pm. (Carboneau) Tessier, 88, a lifelong Holyoke resident died Monday May 28 at the Holyoke Health Care Center. She was born on May 18, 1919, the daughter of the late Harry and Edna (Bacon) Carboneau. She attended local schools and was a graduate of Holyoke High School. She previously worked for her brothers at the family owned businesses, Riverview Machine Shop, and Springdale Machine Shop. She was predeceased by her husband, Paul G. Tessier on June 18, 1999. She is survived by one son, Robert R. Tessier and his wife Darlene of Longwood, Florida, and one daughter, Ann Weisse and her husband Thomas of Southampton. She also leaves one brother, Paul Carboneau of South Hadley, two sisters, her twin, Anita Hegy of Holyoke and Shirley Kelly of Holyoke. She will be sadly missed by four grandchildren, Robert Weisse, Jeffrey Weisse, Megan Tessier and Brian Tessier and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Donald Carboneau. Funeral services are Friday June 1 at 9am from the Messier Funeral Home, 1944 Northampton St., (Route 5) Holyoke, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10am at Blessed Sacrament Church. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Calling hours at the funeral home are Thursday May 31 from 5- 7pm.
