    2. GARY L. ASHLINE, 56, of Essex Junction, Vt., formerly of Mineville, N.Y., died at his home on Jan. 9, 2007, following a long illness. He was born in Elizabethtown, N.Y., on June 19, 1950, the son of the late Earl and Leta (LaPoint) Ashline. At Gary's request, there will be no funeral services; however, family and friends are invited to a gathering in Gary's memory on Saturday from 1 to 4 p.m. at Whitcomb Terrace, 136 West St., Essex Junction, Vt. Arrangements are with the LaVigne Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 132 Main St., Winooski, Vt. Published in the Press Republican on 1/11/2007. ----------------------------------------------- Ashline, Lawrence Joseph MELBOURNE, Fla. — Lawrence Joseph Ashline, 71, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Monday, Jan. 8, 2007, after a long battle with cancer. Larry was born in Plattsburgh, N.Y., on Dec. 3, 1935, to the late Victor and Alfreda (Soucy) Ashline. Larry graduated from Dannemora High School in 1954. He served actively in the U.S. Air Force from 1954 to 1958 and spent an additional four years as an Air Force reservist until his discharge in 1962. During his time of active duty he served on the honor guard team for President Eisenhower. Larry graduated from Brevard Community College with a degree in electrical engineering and went on to work at Cape Canaveral for the next 16 years. He had met President Kennedy and met the Apollo mission astronauts while working at the Cape. For a short time he had worked as a commercial fisherman before being employed at Harris Semi-conductor as a product engineer. He retired from Harris in 1998 after working there for 24 years. Larry also served as a reserve officer for the Melbourne Police Department for 15 years and was a member of the Melbourne Moose Lodge and the NRA. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, gardening, cooking and spending time with his family. After retiring, Larry enjoyed traveling with his wife. Larry is survived by his wife of 50 years, Barbara; his daughter Diane and her fiancé Roy, son Michael and his wife Diane, daughter Linda and her husband Rick, daughter Terri and her husband Steve, son Craig and his wife Kim and son Tommy and his fiancée Jill; 13 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren; three brothers, Victor and his wife Brenda, Robert and his wife Linda and Leeward and his wife Ruth; and many nieces, nephews; cousins; and great friends. Calling hours will be held on Friday, Jan. 12, 2007, from 5 to 8 p.m. at South Brevard Funeral Home, 1001 South Hickory St., Melbourne. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, Jan. 13, 2007, at 10:30 a.m. at Ascension Catholic Church, 2950 North Harbor City Boulevard, Melbourne. Interment with Air Force honors will follow at Florida Memorial Gardens, Rockledge. Flowers or memorial contributions to a charity of one's choice will be appreciated by Larry's family.
