Fortier, 78, died Thursday, March 28, 1996, after a long illness. He was the husband of Loretta A. (Kane) Fortier and son of the late Arthur and Albina (Levasseur) Fortier. He died at St. Luke's Hospital. A lifelong resident of New Bedford, he was a communicant of St. Mary Church and was formerly employed by the Acushnet Company Rubber Division until his retirement 16 years ago. Mr. Fortier and his wife had been married 53 years. Survivors include his widow; a son, Ronald N. Fortier of New Bedford; and two grandchildren. He was also the brother of the late Jeanne Manny and Leo Fortier. Arrangements are by the Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd.
