Fortier, 78, died Jan. 8, 2003, at a local hospital. He was born in Lewiston, Feb. 28, 1924, the son of Pierre and Antoinette (Gagnon) Fortier. Robert worked for the Fox & Ginn Freight Co. for more than 25 years. Following his retirement, he worked 10 years as a volunteer at Eastern Maine Medical Center. He was a communicant of St. Joseph's and St. John's Catholic Churches. He enjoyed camping, cooking, especially cake decorating, and leather crafting. He was a member of the Eagle's Club, and a member of the Stroke Support Group. He is survived by his wife, Anita (Marquis) Fortier of Brewer; one son, Robert D. Fortier and his wife, Susan, of Bangor; two daughters, Linda A. McPherson of Brewer, Sandra A. Eslin and her husband, Robert, of Bangor; eight grandchildren, Kathryn and Marianne Fortier, Tracy Fox, John and Shane McPherson, Robert Eslin, Jennifer Osborne and Sarah Taylor; four great-grandchildren, Justin, Allyson, Sierra and Gabriella; and three brothers, Gerard Fortier and Lionel Fortier, both of Connecticut and Roland Fortier of Old Orchard Beach. He was predeceased by his parents, and one brother, Bernard. A memorial Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Saturday, at St. John's Catholic Church, with the Rev. Richard C. McLaughlin, pastor, officiating. Interment will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, friends may make donations to the Children's Miracle Network, care of Eastern Maine Charities, P.O.
