WOOD, Roy Melvin WOOD, Roy Melvin - In loving memory of Roy Melvin Wood. The family announces with sorrow his death on January 4, 2007 at the age of 86 at the Sudbury Regional Hospital, Laurentian Site. Beloved husband of Elizabeth Joan Wood (nee Edwards), loving father of Roy (Laurie) of Sudbury, Wayne (Rebecca) of Greenwood, Nova Scotia, step-sons James Encil (Cathy) of Capreol, Alex Encil (Lori) of Sault Ste-Marie. Cherished grandfather of Jennifer (Craig), Laura (Jeff), Jamie (Jen) all of Toronto, Tabitha (Reg) of Hanmer, Krista (Rob) of Garson, Dawn (Chris), Chad (Carla) and Chase all of Sault Ste-Marie, great grandfather of Taylor and Alyssa of Toronto. Roy took great pleasure in his step- grandson Adam and step-grandsons twin boys Devon and Bailey all of Sudbury. Roy is survived by his brother Cliff of Espanola and sister Hazel Winter of Kirkland Lake. Predeceased by his father Amos and mother Florence, brothers George, Harry and sisters Violet, Ethel and Marjorie. During WWII, Roy served overseas in England, France and Germany. Upon returning to Sudbury, Roy was employed at Falconbridge Mines for 25 years. Roy was a member of the War Pensioners of Canada since 1997. The family wishes to express their thanks to Dr. T.B. Chow and the staff on the fourth floor of the Laurentian Hospital for their kindness. Cremation at Parklawn. A Memorial Service will be held in Roy's honour at the JACKSON & BARNARD FUNERAL HOME, 252 Larch Street, on Monday January 8 2007 (Friends may gather at 6:30 p.m. with service to follow). Burial of ashes at the Grandview Cemetery in Massey on Tuesday, January 9, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the war Pensioners of Canada or Northern Cancer Research would be greatly appreciated.
