Madeleine Cadieux > Noel + Marthe Golle WATERLOO-CEDAR FALLS COURIER, SUNDAY, OCTOBER 12, 2003 PAGE B4 Dolores Brownell (1922-2003) OELWEIN-- Dolores Brownell, 80, of Oelwein, died Friday, Oct. 10 at Mercy Hospital, Oelwein, of cancer. She was born Nov. 7, 1922, in Oelwein, daugher of Joseph and Evelyn Fortier. She graduated from Sacred Heart School in Oelwein and upon graduation worked at the telephone office for two years. On June 6, 1942, she married Gene Brownell. They farmed for many years in the Maynard area. Dolores was a devoted farm wife and mother. She was a long time member of St. Francis Catholic church of Fayette and served on the Alter Society. She was a member of the Farm Bureau Women's Chorus and worked for many years on the Election Board. Dolores enjoyed crafting and playing cards. She dearly loved her family and enjoyed nothing better than spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include her husband, Gene; two daughters, Kay (Phil) Johnson of Rolfe, Iowa, and Judy (Dale) Cowell of Wauzeka, Wis.; two sons, Gary (Janice) Brownell of Randalia, Iowa, and Bill (Diane) Brownell of Jesup, Iowa; 17 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren. Dolores was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Jack Fortier; a sister, Collette Dibble; a son, Richard Brownell and a great-granddaughter, Katie Farmer. A memorial Mass will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Oelwein with Father Fangman officiating. There will be no visitation. A memorial fund will be established. Arrangements by Cremation society of Eastern Iowa.
