Fortier, 76, of 163 Elm St. died Saturday in Leominster Hospital after a long illness. He leaves his wife of 56 years, Imelda (Thomassin) Fortier; two sons, Leo and Andre Fortier; a daughter, Denise Cormier, all of Leominster; a brother, Armand Fortier of Montreal, Canada; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces. He was born in St. Albert, Quebec, Canada, son of Arsen and Anna (Boisvert) Fortier, and lived here 35 years. He was a machinist at the former Barker-Davis Co. for many years, retiring in 1986. He then worked part-time for Leominster Taxi Co., owned by his son Andre. Mr. Fortier was a member of St. Cecilia's Church and Leominster Council, Knights of Columbus. The funeral will be held Wednesday from David H. Curley Funeral Home, 89 West St., with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Cecilia's Church, 180 Mechanic St. After cremation, burial will be at the convenience of the family. Calling hours at the funeral home are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow. Her husband, Conrad Fortier, died in 1992. She leaves two sons, Leo and Andre Fortier, both of Leominster; a daughter, Denise Cormier of Leominster; five brothers, Gerard, Euclide, Arthur, Paul E. and Camil Thomassin, all of Quebec, Canada; four sisters, Claire Mailhot, Therese McCarthy, Jeanne Dubois and Simone Thomassin, all of Quebec; 10 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces. She was born in Quebec, daughter of Joseph and Mathilde (Touchette) Thomassin, and lived here for 44 years. Mrs. Fortier was a member of St. Cecilia's Parish and the Daughters of Isabella. The funeral will be held Tuesday, May 29, from Curley-Masciarelli Funeral Home, 89 West St., with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Cecilia's Church, 180 Mechanic St. Burial will be in St. Cecilia's Cemetery. Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, May 28, in the funeral home.
