Bergevin, 70, of Main Street, died Saturday in Concord after a period of failing health. He was the son of Antonio and Alice (Rivard) Bergevin. He was a lifelong resident of Allenstown. He served in the Navy during the Korean War. Bergevin spent most of his career in the food industry. He owned and operated the Village Restaurant, was manager of Blake's Restaurant and worked for Frosted Foods. He also ran a catering business and later often volunteered as a chef at church functions. He also was a co-owner of Town Line Printing and ran Rick Douglas Mailing Service. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Church, where he was an usher. He was also active in community affairs. He served on the town municipal budget committee and was also a ballot clerk. He was a member of the John J. Maguire American Legion Post No. 28, the Fr. Routhier Council No. 4666 Knights of Columbus, and the Msgr. Buckley 4th Degree Assembly. He was also a member of, and a member of the board of directors of, the Plausawa Valley Country Club. Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Stella (Carson) Bergevin of Allenstown; two sons, Richard Bergevin of Allenstown and Douglas Bervegin of Alpharetta, Ga.; a daughter, Brenda Macko of Swanzey; two brothers, Maurice Bergevin of Pembroke and Lucien Bergevin of Laguna Hills, Calif.; four sisters, Laurette Kimball, Lillian Boisvert and Madeleine Clement, all of Allenstown, and Lorraine Stewart of Saco, Maine; seven grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. A son, Donald Bergevin Jr., died in 1969; four siblings, Lena Courtemanche, Lucille LaPierre, Germaine Girard and Gerard Bergevin, died previously. Calling hours will be held tomorrow from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Petit Funeral Home, 167 Main St., Pembroke. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Church, Allenstown. The Rev. Donald Clinton, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be held in the spring in St. John the Baptist Cemetery in Allenstown.
