Charles Bergevin 1926 - 2005 SPRINGFIELD - Charles Bergevin, 79, of Springfield was Called Safely Home on Tuesday, October 4, 2005. He was born in Quebec City, Canada on September 8, 1926 a beloved son of the late Antonio and Alexandrine (Goulet) Bergevin and moved to Springfield in 1953. He was employed for many years by the Gerard Baillargeon Contractors in Springfield and the Johnson Acoustics, Inc. in West Springfield and retired in 1988. He was a communicant of the former Saint Joseph Church in Springfield where he served his parish as a bingo worker, an usher and a senior altar server. He was a volunteer for the Goodwill Industries and a member of the bowling league of Springfield. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, Elder Council 69 in Chicopee and a member of the Archbishop Williams Assembly 4th Degree of the Knights of Columbus. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 50 years, Dolores M. (Guillemette) Bergevin who was Called Home on August 18, 1997 and his loving son-in-law, Ernest M. Bedard, Jr. He leaves his loving daughters, Lise M. Bedard of Springfield, with whom he lived and Denise M. Lytton and her husband Les of West Springfield. His two cherished grandsons, Brother Ernest M. Bedard, III, OFM Cap of the Capuchin Friars in Jamaica Plain, MA and Matthew R. Brown of Bremerton, WA. His dear brothers, George Bergevin and his wife Denise and Raoul Bergevin and his wife Rita, all of Quebec City, Canada. His dear sisters, Antonine Gagnon of Quebec City, Canada and Julienne Demers of Montreal, Canada. His dear godson, Richard Bergevin of Canada and his many dear nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his dear sister, Lucienne Baker. His funeral will be held Saturday morning, October 8, 2005 at 11:15 a.m. from the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, 7 Chapin Terrace at the corner of Chestnut Street (near Baystate Medical Center) in Springfield followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 1 p.m. in Saint John the Baptist Church, 191 Hubbard Street in Ludlow. His burial will follow the Mass at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 421 Tinkham Road in Springfield. His family will receive friends at the funeral home in the Chapin Chapel on Friday, October 7, 2005 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. For those who prefer to make a memorial donation, they may be made in his memory to the Radius Hospice, 32 Chestnut Street, East Longmeadow, MA 01028 or to the Parkinson's Disease Foundation, 710 West 168th Street, NY, NY 10032. Dolores M. Bergevin SPRINGFIELD - Dolores M. (Guillemette) Bergevin 79, of Springfield died Monday in Mercy Hospital. She was born in Auburn, Maine, and lived here from 1954. She was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church, and was a eucharistic minister and longtime bingo and bazaar volunteer. She leaves her husband of 50 years, Charles Bergevin; two daughters, Lise M. Bedard of Springfield, and Denise M. Lytton of Wilbraham; two sisters, Sister Beatrice Guillemette of the Sisters of St.Louis de France of Bienville, Quebec, and Madeleine Sauve of Montreal, Quebec; two grandsons, and nephews and nieces. The funeral will be Friday morning at St. Pierre Springfield Funeral Chapels and the church, with the burial in Gate of heaven Cemetery. The visiting hours are Thursday afternoon and evening, and memorial donations may be made to the American Lung Association, 393 Maple St., Springfield, Mass., 01105.
