(Bergevin) Godfrey, 78, of 75 Ridgewood Lane, formerly of Marble Road, Ashburnham, died yesterday in Henry Heywood Memorial Hospital after she was stricken ill at her home. Her husband, George C. Godfrey, died in 1987. She leaves a son, Lonnie L. Godfrey of Fresno, Calif.; two brothers, Joseph W. Bergevin of Deltona, Fla., and Donald L. Bergevin of South Ashburnham; a sister, Helen J. Gaidanowicz of Gardner; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and nephews and nieces. She was born in South Ashburnham, daughter of Daniel P. and Stella C. (Felt) Bergevin, and lived many years in Ashburnham before moving here in 1984. She was an attendant for many years at Walter E. Fernald State Colony in Templeton, retiring in 1974. Mrs. Godfrey was a member of St. Anne's Church and a member of the Forever Young Club, both in South Ashburnham. The funeral will be held Wednesday from Lamoureux Funeral Home, 142 Nichols St., with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Anne's Church, 162 Center St., South Ashburnham. Burial will be in New Cemetery, South Ashburnham. Calling hours at the funeral home are 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday.
