Fortier CHICOPEE - Donald Edward Fortier, 56, of 90 Britton St. in the Fairview section, died Saturday at Holyoke Hospital. He was a maintenance coordinator for Avery-Dennison Co. of Holliston. He was born in Holyoke, lived in South Hadley before moving to Chicopee in 1966, and was a communicant of St. Anne Church in Fairview. He was a Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam War, and received the National Defense Service Medal and the Rifle Expert Badge. He leaves his wife, the former Frances D. Menard; a son, Donald E. Jr. of Chicopee; two daughters, Deborah A. Reome and Anne Marie Fortier, both of Chicopee; his parents, George L. and Mary E. (Purcell) Fortier of Granby; three brothers, William F. of Chicopee, Robert L. of Granby, and John J. of Twentynine Palms, Calif.; a sister, Jean E. Walker of Chicopee; and five grandchildren. The funeral will be Friday morning at Phaneuf-Blais Fairview Funeral Chapels and the church, with a military burial in Notre Dame Cemetery, South Hadley. Calling hours will be Thursday afternoon and evening. Memorial contributions may be made to the Soldiers' Home, 110 Cherry St., Holyoke, MA 01040. Frances D. (Menard) Fortier, 58, of the Fairview section of Chicopee was Called Safely Home on Sunday, January 8, 2006. She was born in Columbus, Georgia on September 5, 1947 a beloved daughter of Dorothy M. (Squire) Menard McCarroll of West Springfield and the late Alfred J. Menard who was Called Home in 1964. She moved to the Fairview section of Chicopee in 1976. She was employed as a sales clerk at the Louis and Clark Drug Store in Fairview. She previously worked as a secretary for the former Zayre Department Store and Ames Department Store, both in Fairview. She also was employed by Ames Department Store and Comp USA in Connecticut, the Riverside Speedway in Agawam and was a former secretary for the Diocese of Springfield. She was a former Girl Scout Leader and a communicant of Saint Anne Church in Fairview. Her beloved husband, Donald E. Fortier, Sr. was Called Home on May 26, 2001. Besides her beloved mother, she leaves her loving children, Deborah A. Reome and her husband Chris of Chicopee, Ann Marie Fortier of Fairview and Donald E. Fortier, Jr. of South Hadley. Her five cherished grandchildren, Kevin and Ashley Cormier, Tessa, Jason and Albert Reome. Her dear brothers, William J. Menard and his wife Joanne of Agawam and Terry A. Menard of West Springfield and her many dear nephews and nieces. Her funeral will be held Thursday morning, January 12, 2006 at 8:45 a.m. from the St. Pierre - Phaneuf Fairview Chapels (Phaneuf-Blais) 506 Britton Street in Chicopee followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Saint Anne Church, 30 College Street in Fairview. Her burial will follow the Mass at Notre Dame Cemetery, 63 Lyman Street in South Hadley. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home in the Fairview Chapel on Wednesday, January 11, 2006 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. The parking lot is located in the rear of the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made in her memory to the charity of the donor's choice.
