Bergevin June 16, 1914--Feb. 23, 1999 Former Albany resident Sylvin John Bergevin, 84, of Salem died Tuesday of pancreatic cancer. Born in Yakima, Wash., he graduated from high school in Toutle, Wash., and worked in the logging industry in Washington and Oregon. He last worked for Teledyne Wah Chang in Albany. He married Frances Jackson on Aug. 30, 1940. Mr. Bergevin was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was active in church work. His favorite pastime was gardening. Surviving are wife Frances; sons Marvin and Duane, both of Salem; daughters Mellie Casida of Albany and Delpha Foulger and Darla Barton, both of Salem; and sisters Lea Helmig of Molalla, Alice Coleman of Yakima, Wash., and Lorraine Wassemiller of Prineville. There are 33 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday and Mr. Bergevin's funeral will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday, both at the Keizer LDS Stake Center, 1375 Lockhaven Drive NE, in Keizer. Burial will be at Restlawn Memory Gardens, Salem. Restlawn Funeral Home is handling arrangements. Contributions in Mr. Bergevin's memory may be ade to the American Cancer Society or the Mid-Willamette Valley Hospice of Salem.
