She was the former wife of the late Edward J. Murphy. Born in Providence, a daughter of the late Henri J. and Marie E. (Levesque) Langevin, she was a lifelong resident of the city. Mrs. Murphy had been a sales clerk at the former Shepard's department store downtown for over 25 years, retiring in 1972. She had also been a sales associate for the Avery Piano Co. for many years. She had been a volunteer librarian and receptionist at St. Francis Chapel for many years. She had been a longtime member of the Third Order of St. Francis, and a communicant of Church of the Assumption. She leaves a son, Robert E. Murphy of Providence; a daughter, Elizabeth Anne Marshall of Providence, with whom she lived; and five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Marguerite L. Tondreau. The funeral will be held Monday at 8 a.m. from Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 331 Smith St., with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 in Church of the Assumption, 791 Potters Ave. Burial will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
