Alberta Y. Neilon 1922 - 2005 HOLYOKE, MA, USA - Alberta Y. (Fortier) Neilon, 83, of Holyoke died December 12th, four days short of the nineteenth anniversary of the death of her husband, James J. Neilon. Born in Holyoke, July 18, 1922, she was one of sixteen children of the late Louis Eli Fortier and Lea Louise LOISELLE-FORTIER. She worked as a welder during WWII and was co-owner with her husband of the former Industrial Welding and Iron Works, where she worked as treasurer and bookkeeper for many years. A longtime homemaker, she provided a home over the years not only for her children but also for a grandchild, two nephews and a niece. She leaves one son, Michael J. Neilon with whom she made her home; one daughter, Carolann Malley, who recently retired as a news reporter for the Republican; Michael's fiancée, Wanda Hebert; three grandchildren, Erica Schultz, Michael Sean Neilon and Angelique Clark; three great grandchildren, Jonah and Elijah Afonso and Brandon Neilon; her grandson's fiancée, Susan Lauziere and her two children from a previous marriage, Jared and Nick Lauziere; a brother-in-law, Francis Neilon, a sister-in-law, Agnes Sampson; four sisters, Roseanna, Claire, Rita Lillian and Irene FORTIER; two brothers, Albert and George FORTIER; and many nieces and nephews including Bruce Ganis who made his home with her for many years. Funeral services will be Friday December 16 at 10am at the Messier Funeral Home, 1944 Northampton St., (Route 5) Holyoke. A calling hour will precede the services beginning at 9am. Burial will be in Forestdale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Salvation Army and Republican Toy for Joy Fund, P.O.
