Madeleine Cadieux > Noel + Marthe Golle Maurice O. Fortier obituaries@TimesRecord.Com 12/28/2005 BRUNSWICK - Maurice O. Fortier, 89, of Maurice Drive, died peacefully on Monday, Dec. 26, 2005. He was born in Orono on July 15, 1916, the son of Damase and Armanda Biladeau Fortier. He graduated from Stevens High School in Rumford in 1935. He served in the Army and married Dorothy L. Morrill in Rumford on Sept. 18, 1940. Fortier retired from the U.S. Postal Service and then worked for many years as a self-employed accountant. He was a charter member of the Bath Lodge of Elks. In his spare time he enjoyed playing cards, trivia, sports and traveling. He was also an avid reader. He was predeceased by his wife in 1973; two sons, Thomas R. and Christopher L. Fortier; a grandson, Jeffrey W. Fortier Jr.; a brother, Armand J. Fortier; and three sisters, Cecile Bulgar, Marie Ange Poirer and Marianne Tremblay. Survivors include a daughter, Elnora L. Fortier of Durham; two sons, Jeffrey W. Fortier Sr. of Old Orchard Beach and David A. Fortier and his wife, Angelina, of Lompoc, Calif.; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Jane McGouldrick of California and Germaine Fortier of Litchfield; a special friend, Jan Larrabee of Brunswick; and several nieces and nephews. At the family's request, all services will be private. Arrangements are by David E. Desmond & Son Funeral Home, 638 High St., Bath.
