Madeleine Cadieux > Noel + Marthe Golle Source: Crookston Daily Times Loretta Irene Christensen, 89, of Crookston, Minnesota, died Wednesday afternoon, December 7, 2005 at the Riverview Health Care Center in Crookston. Loretta was born on January 9, 1916, at Gentilly, Minnesota, the daughter of Stanislas and Albina (Amiot) Fortier. She attended country school and graduated from St. Joseph's Academy in Crookston. Loretta was united in marriage to Forrest Elliot Christensen at the St. Thomas parsonage in International Falls, Minnesota. The couple lived for a time in International Falls before moving to Chicago, Illinois, then to Pocatello, and Boise, Idaho. They came back to Crookston several years ago. Loretta was a member of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception parish in Crookston. She will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by all who shared in her life. Loving family members include her husband, Forrest; two sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth and Patricia Christensen of Detroit, MI, and Ronald Elliot and Beatriz Christensen of Las Vegas, NV; five grandchildren, Eric Christensen, Karen Sjogren, Deanne Holmes, Michael Ronald Christensen, and Michelle Marie Christensen; four great-grandchildren, Mitchell, Sophia, Kiersten and Abigail; a sister, Bernadette Blokzyl of Crookston; a sister-in-law, Joyce Fortier of Mason City, IA; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Loretta was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers and sister, Adrian Fortier, Maurice Fortier, Cecilia Cousineau and Paul Fortier. The funeral service for Loretta Christensen was held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, December 10, 2005 at the Villa St. Vincent Nursing Home in Crookston, with visitation for one hour before the funeral. There was also a visitation at the Green-Larsen Funeral Home in International Falls, MN on Monday morning, December 12, 2005. Interment will be in the St. Thomas Cemetery in International Falls. Forrest Elliot Christensen of Crookston, Minn., formerly of International Falls died Monday, Feb. 6, 2006 at the Villa St. Vincent Special Care Unit in Crookston, Minn. He was 90 years of age. Forrest was born on March 15, 1915 in Jewell, Iowa. He was united in marriage to Loretta Fortier in Jan. of 1938 in the St. Thomas Catholic Church in International Falls. After spending a few years in International Falls Forrest and Loretta moved to Chicago, Illinois then to Pocatello and finally settled in Boise, Idaho where they spent many years before moving back to Northern Minnesota in 1997. Forrest was a musician and artist and was well known for his art work and volunteer activities. He is preceded in death by his loving wife Loretta who passed away exactly two short months ago today. His parents Hawley and Clara (Hoon) Christensen, brothers Lloyd and Lyle and great-grandson Christopher Holmes who died in March of 2005. Forrest is survived by his sons; Ken and Ron Christensen, brother Reed, grandchildren; Michelle Christensen, Michael Christensen, Eric Christensen, Karen Sjogren and Deanne Holmes, great grandchildren Mitchell Sjogren, Sophia Sjogren, Kiersten Sjogren, and Abigail Holmes. Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, Feb. 10, 2006 at the St. Thomas Catholic Church in International Falls at 11 a.m. with visitation on Thursday evening, Feb. 9, 2006 at the Green-Larsen Memorial Chapel from 5 to 7 p.m. Interment will be in the St. Thomas Catholic Cemetery in International Falls following services.
