LaPierre, "Red," 80, of Main Street in Farmington, died Wednesday evening, Jan. 2, 2008, at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital in Dover. Born Aug. 7, 1927, and raised in Pembroke, son of the late Ernest E. and Laura (Desmarais) LaPierre, he resided there for many years, and resided in Farmington since 1960. He and his late wife, Lucille, had also enjoyed five years, residing in Lady Lake, Fla. He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II. In earlier years, he worked at several local shoe factories. In 1966, he established his own business with fuel oil, gas and tires, having owned and operated Ernie's Gas and Tires in Farmington for many years. Ernie was a member of the American Legion in Farmington. He enjoyed camping, using his computer and he especially loved his family, hosting "Sunday Soup at Pepere's" every Sunday. He is survived by his seven children, Paul LaPierre of Middleton, Roger LaPierre of Northfield, Richard LaPierre of Barrington, Marie Hogan of Milton Mills, Jeanne Guitard of Holly Springs, N.C., Mark LaPierre of Farmington and Michael LaPierre of Middleton; 22 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren, also many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Lucille E. (Bergevin) LaPierre; two sons, Robert LaPierre and Ernest M. LaPierre and two grandsons, Gordon Gillis and Shawn LaPierre. Calling hours are Friday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Peaslee Funeral Home, 24 Central St., Farmington, N.H. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, Jan. 5, at 11 a.m. at St. Peter's Church, 88 Central St., Farmington, with Fr. W. Pierre Baker, pastor, as celebrant. Interment will be in the spring at Pine Grove Cemetery in Farmington.
