Hubert was born on July 17th, 1938 in Willow Bunch, Saskatchewan. He was brought up on the family farm with his brothers Andre, Albert (twin) and his sister Cecile. He attended school at Anchor, a country school close to the farm, and also attended school at Forget and Radville in Saskatchewan. He finished his education, Grade VIII to XII, at Willow Bunch School. After graduating, he worked on local farms as a farm hand, worked as the town Secretary in Willow Bunch Town Office for one year, and farmed five quarters for several years, as well as being employed in the grain industry for 30 years. In 1974, Hubert married Judy Cairns (nee Wood) who had one daughter, Terena Cairns, and in 1977, Hubert and Judy had a daughter, Marcia Fortier. Hubert loved nature and shared his life with his family in traveling, camping or just spending time with them. He was always busy helping others, fixing whatever needed to be fixed and doing the little things that a person appreciated. Hubert was well known for his smile. He was a patient teacher in life, teaching necessary life skills that allowed his family to be happy with what they had . One of his greatest gifts to his family was how he loved life. Hubert's support enabled all of his family to achieve their dreams and when asked about his dream his answer was that my family be happy . Predeceased by his twin brother, Albert Fortier, father Romain, Freddie Fortier, and mother Annette Brunelle, he will be missed by Judy, his loving wife of 29 years; Terena (Brad) Hrycenko and family Torie, Brandon, Madison; daughter Marcia; brother Andre (Doris) Fortier, sister Cecile (Dale) Blatchford, mother-in-law Edith Wood and sister-in-law Shirley Delorme, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. The Funeral Service was held in St. Ignace Roman Catholic Church in Willow Bunch, Saskatchewan on Saturday, December 13th, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. The Reverend John Lea officiated. Honorary Pallbearers were All Those Who Shared in Hubert's Life. Pallbearers were: Philias Fortier, Wayne Delorme, Patrick Shippelt, Gerard Mondor, George Bourgeois, Roger Philippon. Music Ministry was led by the Willow Bunch Church Choir accompanied by the organists Wanda Pulfer and Doris Y O'Reilly. Hymns were O Little Town of Bethlehem C'est Noe
