Fortier, 87, of Auburn, died on Sunday, Jan. 6, at Clover Manor. She was born on Sept., 4, 1920, in Lewiston, a daughter of Wilfrid and Jeanne (Dupere) Houle.She was educated in Lewiston, where she later married Rosaire J. Fortier, with whom she shared her life for the remaining 64 years. She worked for a short time at Androscoggin Mill and later at the Sacred Heart School lunch program. She spent most of her life doing what she enjoyed most, raising her four children. She always said "They're your children forever."In later years, she found time to spend with the many special friends she collected along her life's journey. She leaves three daughters, Claire Caldwell of Auburn, Doris and George Bourgoin of Lewiston and Pauline Charpentier and Robert Belanger of Oxford; a son, George Fortier of Newport, R.I.; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She has one remaining sister and best friend, Anita Thiberge of Auburn. The family would like to thank the staff at The Clover Manor Health Care Facility, especially side 3, for all their true compassion and understanding. It is greatly appreciated.
