    3. Herbert D. Abair Herbert D. Abair 1929 - 2004 SPRINGFIELD - Herbert D. "Herb" Abair, 75, of Pioneer Way St., died on Tuesday November 9th. Born July 16, 1929 in Winooski, VT, he was the son of the late James H. and Mary L. (Cherrier) Abair and resided in Springfield most of his life. Herb was an advocate and spokesman for the Alzheimer's Association of Springfield, previously working at Goodwill as a supervisor and the former Springfield Armory. He was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and the recipient of the Korean Service Medal with two Battle Stars and the United Nations Service Medal. He was a communicant of St. Catherine of Siena Church and an avid billiards player and enjoyed fishing and the outdoors. His wife Gloria (DeGeorgio) Abair died in 1971. He leaves three sisters; Dorothy Wozny of Laconia, NH, Pauline Lynn of Granby, MA and Eleanor Larame of Holyoke, several nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews and his longtime companion Rosalie Doane of Springfield. He was predeceased by three brothers; Joseph, James and Roland Abair. The funeral is Saturday at 10:30 a.m. from the Ratell Funeral Home, 200 Main St., Indian Orchard, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial in St. Catherine of Siena Church at 11:30 a.m. Burial with Military Honors will follow at St. Michael's Cemetery.
