Edward N. Legere ORANGE - Edward N. Legere, 51, of 519 East River St., formerly of Greenfield, died Monday (11-1-04) at UMass Medical Center in Worcester. He was born in Greenfield on April 12, 1953, the son of Albert and Mary (Samal) Legere. He graduated from Greenfield High School in 1971. He had been a resident of Greenfield prior to relocating to Orange in 1999. Ed had been a machine operator for New England Extrusion in Turners Falls since 1990. He served with the 2nd Battalion 41st Infantry 2nd Armored Division with the U.S. Army in Vietnam and attained the rank of Specialist 4th class. He was awarded the CIB (Combat Infantry Badge) and the Vietnam service medal with 1 Bronze Service Star. Ed enjoyed fishing, canoeing and his dog, "Emmy." Besides his mother of Greenfield, he leaves a son, Gregory of Worcester; a daughter, Angela Morrissey of Ft. Bragg, Calif.; a brother, Raymond and his wife Valerie of Greenfield; 2 sisters, Polly Hillman and her husband Douglas and Sally Malloy and her husband Daniel, all of Greenfield; 2 granddaughters and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. His longtime companion and friend was Barbara Gelineau of Orange. A graveside service will be held Thursday at 11:30 a.m. in Green River Cemetery, Greenfield, with the Rev. Armand Proulx, pastor of the Second Congregational Church, officiating. A calling hour at the Kostanski Funeral Home, 220 Federal St., Greenfield, will be Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Pioneer Valley Humane Society, P.O. box 786, Greenfield, MA 01302.
