Wednesday, November 17, 2004 Louise M. Doughty, 86 GRAY - Louise M. Doughty, 86, passed away Nov 7, 2004 after a long battle with cancer. She was born Iowa Colony, Texas, the only daughter of Edmond A. Croix and Julie Louise Pingeon on June 25, 1918. Her parents migrated to the U.S. from Switzerland in 1908. She belonged to many charitable organizations, including past president & treasurer of the East Windham Firemen's Ladies Auxiliary, Road Runners travel group for 15 years, past treasurer, Crossroads garden Club and her beloved 1918 Club. She worked as a receptionist many years for Dr. Elton Blaisdell, also as secretary for the Cumberland County Civil Defense in South Windham. She attended church in East Windham, North Windham, and most recently the Gray Congregational Church in Gray. Her parents and five brothers preceded her in death. She married Everett W. Doughty, of Gray on Nov. 5, 1945, in Beaumont, Texas. Everett affectionately called her the Swiss Miss. They celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary on Friday, Nov. 5, 2004, two days before her death with a dozen beautiful yellow roses, her favorites. They had one son, Louis W. Doughty. She is survived by her husband, Everett W. Doughty of Gray; a son, Louis W. Doughty and wife Rebecca of Colorado Springs; three grandchildren, Samantha Julien and husband Jimmy of California, Jeri Sandoval and husband Chris of Shreveport, Louisiana, David Doughty and his wife Marion of Colorado Springs, Colo.; a dozen great- and great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
