Rita M. Ryan Chateaugay - Rita M. Ryan, 73, formerly of Chateaugay, died Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2004, at the Franklin County Nursing Home, Malone, N.Y., where she had been a patient since May 4, 2004. Born in Churubusco, N.Y., on May 11, 1931, she was the daughter of Joseph and Lillian (Decosse) Poupore. Rita is survived by four brothers and five sisters-in-law, Floyd and Marilyn Poupore of Hamilton, N.Y., James and Mary Poupore of Verona Beach, N.Y., Gerald Poupore and companion Betty Hewitt of Warners, N.Y., John and Eileen Poupore of Tacoma, Wash., and Terry Poupore of Chateaugay, N.Y.; five sisters and brothers-in-law, Muriel and Thomas Campbell of Chateaugay, N.Y., Linda and Kenneth Prevo of Ellenburg Center, N.Y., Janet and Frank Laclair of Ellenburg Center, N.Y., Cynthia and Dave Marger of Scotia, N.Y., and Susan and Paul Gregory of Pittsfield, Mass.; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, James Ryan; long time companion, Allison "Allie" Lamay; two brothers, Donald and Michael Poupore; and a sister-in-law, Nancy Poupore. Rita attended Chateaugay High School. She worked at various businesses in Chateaugay. She owned and operated "Ye Olde Halfway House" for many years. She was a member of the Chateaugay American Legion Auxiliary for 47 years. She was a communicant of St. Patrick's Church, Chateaugay. Calling hours will be held at the Chateaugay Funeral Home on Sunday, Nov. 14th, from 6 to 9 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 15th, in St. Patrick's Church with Rev. John Demo officiating. Burial will take place at St. Patrick's Cemetery, Chateaugay. Donations in her memory may be made to Hospice of the North Country or Chateaugay Fire Department.
